The first church gets in the swing of things

April 14, 2025 by For The Magazine

Jazz music echoed off the walls of The First Church of Swampscott’s Clark Hall as the Riverside Renaissance Swing Band entertained a packed room on Feb. 2.

The performance featured 18 musicians playing swing, big band, rock and roll classics, and some contemporary hits.

Admission to the concert was free, with 100% of donations collected going to the wildfires fund of the United Church of Christ to help those affected by the devastating wildfires.

Larry Gelberg impresses the crowd with his saxophone solo.
Bob Fleming hits the low notes in the trombone section of the band.
Kim Maria Araiza hits all the high notes as she belts out “I’m Feeling Good.”
Brittany Betts on the trumpet gets the room moving during her solo.
Gary Tebolt plays his saxophone during the performance of “Natural Woman.”
